The Online Film Community’s Top 100 Movies

The Online Film Community’s Top 100 Movies

When the idea first came about to create a list of the Top 100 films from the collaboration of online movie website editors, journalists, and bloggers, I had no idea that all of the writers I contacted would respond so enthusiastically. After sending out the first e-mail, I received dozens of responses within a matter of hours, and it took only a few hours more before the idea became a reality and the working list became known as The Online Film Community’s Top 100 Movies.

Linux: The 0.01 Release | KernelTrap

Linux: The 0.01 Release | KernelTrap

This is a free minix-like kernel for i386(+) based AT-machines. Full
source is included, and this source has been used to produce a running
kernel on two different machines. Currently there are no kernel
binaries for public viewing, as they have to be recompiled for different
machines. You need to compile it with gcc (I use 1.40, don't know if
1.37.1 will handle all __asm__-directives), after having changed the
relevant configuration file(s).

you park like an asshole

you park like an asshole

Sick of a car taking up two spaces on the street? How about a car too close to yours? What about the car at the mall parked diagonally? Now you can do something about it. Simply download a notice and place it on the car's windshield. The owner of the vehicle will be informed of their asshole status as well as the proper tips to improve their poor parking techniques. It's time to put an end to asshole parking, or at least to make fun of it.

Energy Saving Search

Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Internet Archive: Details: Desktop Video 1990

Today we take for granted the fact that we can watch video on our computers, but in the early 1990s, that was a big innovation. This program looks at early examples of desktop video on the Amiga, the Mac, and the IBM PC. Demonstrations include the Amiga 2500, the Amiga video authoring system, the Pionner LaserDisk player, MacroMind's Director 2.0 for the Mac IIx, the Avid/1 Media Composer, the DVA-4000 video controller from VideoLogic, and the use of desktop video at the NASA Ames research center. Originally broadcast in 1990.

ALEXITHYMIA DEPOT

ALEXITHYMIA DEPOT

Alexithymia Defined:

The behaviour now known as alexithymia was first described in detail by psychiatrists Peter E. Sifneos and John C. Nemiah who were then working at the Beth Israel Hospital with patients displaying psychosomatic disturbances. Many of these patients showed extreme difficulties in talking about their emotions, and in 1972 Sifneos coined the word alexithymia meaning 'without words for emotions' (from the Greek a = lack, lexis = word, thymos = emotion) to denote the cluster of behaviours he was witnessing1….. Over the past few decades the alexithymia concept has been refined theoretically, where it is presently defined by the following features:
(i) difficulty identifying feelings and distinguishing between feelings and the bodily sensations of emotional arousal;
(ii) difficulty describing feelings to other people;
(iii) constricted imaginal processes, as evidenced by a paucity of fantasies;
and
(iv) a stimulus-bound, externally oriented cognitive style.

Matt Stone And Trey Parker's Universal Training Video

Matt Stone And Trey Parker's Universal Training Video

Back in 1995 Universal Studios was bought by the Seagram's company, purveyors of fine wine coolers. For some completely bizarre and unknown reason, they hired South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker to create an employee training film that would reassure their staff that even though they'd been bought by a massive alcohol conglomerate the studio would remain artist friendly.
